Jay's Birthmark

I was talking to a colleague this afternoon whose son had recently undergone some heart surgery. Apparently it is considered small case as surgery only lasted 4hrs whereas she had seen babies there as young as only 1 month old going through surgeries that lasted more than 10hrs. Doesn't it make us feel blessed that our children are at least born healthy.

It reminds me that Jay is also not born perfect too and had given me quite a scare back then. Looking back now, it really wasn't a big deal. He has a red birthmark on the right side of his head. It started really small in the beginning, but it grows bigger and bigger everyday. The bigger it is, the more worried I am although my gynae and the PD said that it will go away by the time he reaches 5-7 years old. It is called a 'strawberry hemangioma'. These birthmarks happen when many new blood vessels grow in a specific area on the skin. But being a first time mother and a perfectionist according to horoscope, I really freaked out and observed the birthmark everyday. We did not shaved his head as partly we were worried of hurting that little thing there and partly to use his available hair to try cover up. When we go out, he will aways be wearing a cap.

True enough, the birthmark started shrinking when he reached 2 years old. Since then, I have stopped the observation altogether and have even almost forgotten about it until today. I must remember to take a pic tomorrow morning as a remembrance. I believe it is still there, but is really small and colour has also faded to very light pink.

Jon

We have been bring Jon home more and more frequently. We used to only bring him home on Friday evenings and pack him back to my mum's place on Monday morning. Recently, the frequency is 2 weekdays as well as the usual Friday. We sense that he already knows he does not come home everyday and we feel bad, real bad especially when we only go home with Jay and not him . The bye byes exchanged when he is behind the gates, he doesn't wave and doesn't smile. When he is outside and my mum behind the gates, haha....he smiles so lovingly and waves non-stop to my mum. This sets me thinking that it is probably time to put Jon in the childcare soon. He is afterall more than 18 months old. But I have another problem, what is my mum going to do ?? And can I handle both of them alone when K can be home very late sometimes....

Jon's speech development is definitely faster than Jay. He can say quite a lot of words now, but Jay is considered slow so may not be a good comparison. Jon is more expressive too whereas Jay is more reserved. That is also the reason why I am not in a hurry to put Jon in CC. I remembered I was quite worried about Jay when he was younger. Thought he may be autistic. I suppose he is just shy. Jon doesn't seem to like books, but Jay loves books. I think I am going to have a bigger problem with Jon when he goes to school next time.

Zouk

I feel so tired and drained today. Have not been working since last Friday. Had the Suppliers' Day at one of the customers last Friday at the Merchant Court. Good food all day but 1 full day is way too much. Endless presentations, which I feel serve not much purpose for the suppliers.

Last 3 days, again more presentations but is internal. This is the forth time that Asia Sales Meeting is being held in SG. Can you believe it ! Even the Japanese and Taiwanese are getting sick of SG by now. All agree that we are going to fight to avoid SG the next time. The only good thing that comes out of it, good food again. I must say I am surprised at the standards of the Royal Plaza Hotel at Scotts. I thought only Oriental and some of those higher end 5 star hotels serve good buffet. I must say Royal Plaza is equally good, if not better. I must have gained at least 3kg over the last few days.

Zouk, we brought some of our Taiwanese & Chinese colleagues there last night. Wow !! I feel so old. It was ladies night and I am glad they did not stop me from going in. Have heard about the saga at St James about barring gals who looks too old.... Well, music is good and is actually kind of fun. I suppose it is the company that matters and the bunch of them were really sporting and humorous. Our avaerage age got to be at least 40 years old, Haha.... The last time I went to Zouk, I think I was only 18 with my Secondary school classmates. Way way too long....
